چکیده

SCIAMACHY (SCanning Imaging Absorption spectroMeter for Atmospheric CHartographY) is part of the payload of ESA’s Environmental Satellite ENVISAT which was launched into a sun-synchronous polar orbit on 2002-03-01. First in-flight validation results already showed inconsistencies of the radiometric calibration of SCIAMACHY. Hence the on-ground calibration was thoroughly revised and correction factors for an improved radiometric calibration of SCIAMACHY were derived. A Kurucz Spectrum and SOLSPEC/SOLSTICE/SUSIM data is compared with the solar irradiance measured by SCIAMACHY after application of these correction factors.

Sciamachy Reflectance and Solar Irradiance Validation

The top-of-atmosphere spectral reflectance measured by SCIAMACHY has been validated by comparisons between calibrated SCIAMACHY V6 Level 1 data and corresponding reflectances from AATSR and MERIS. The AATSR analysis is currently restricted to part of one specifically processed orbit containing a scene over a hurricane with high and homogeneous clouds for which results for V5 data are already av...

Technical guide to Set Up a Spectral Solar Direct Normal Irradiance Permanent Station: Study Area- Hannover, Germany

The spectral Direct Normal Irradiance (SDNI) is a basic radiometric quantity from which many other quantities can be derived. It provides not only information about the spectral and distribution of the direct solar radiation reaching a particular location. Accurate knowledge about the spectral direct irradiance shall enable us to gain new scientific results in the: determination of cloud effect...

Sciamachy In-flight Instrument Performance

On 1st of March 2002 ENVISAT with SCIAMACHY on-board was launched successfully in a sun-synchronous polar orbit. SCIAMACHY is a passive remote sensing instrument, which measures solar back scattered and reflected light from the atmosphere in nadir and limb viewing geometries during the majority of an orbit. In addition solar and lunar occultation measurements will be performed regularly. Measur...

Radiation and Cloud Studies with Gome in Preparation for Future Spectrometer Missions

GOME is presently the only space-borne spectrometer observing the entire spectral range from 240 to 790 nm with high spectral resolution. Its data are an important source of information to prepare for the analysis of data from the new satellite spectrometers SCIAMACHY, OMI, and GOME-2. We present some examples of the use of GOME data for checking radiometric calibration and for multispectral st...

Wavelength calibration of spectra measured by the Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment by use of a high-resolution reference spectrum.

Earthshine spectra measured by the nadir-viewing Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME) spectrometer aboard the second European Remote Sensing (ERS-2) Satellite in the range of 240-790 nm are widely used for the retrieval of concentrations and vertical profiles of atmospheric trace gases. For the near-real-time delivery of ozone columns and profiles at the Royal Netherlands Meterological Ins...
